Brightstart Recruitment (“we”, “us”) is a recruitment agency placing staff in nurseries across West London & North Surrey. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this notice.

What we collect and why
If you request staff (nurseries)
Through our staff request form we collect your nursery’s name and postcode, your name, job title, email address and phone number, and details of the staff you need. We use this to respond to your request, arrange temporary cover or permanent recruitment, and agree terms with you.
Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interests in running our recruitment business.
If you register for work (candidates)
Through our registration form we collect your name, email address, phone number and home postcode, the roles and type of work you want, your availability, your highest early years qualification, whether your DBS certificate is on the Update Service, whether you have the right to work in the UK, your CV (if you upload one) and how you heard about us.
We use this to contact you, understand what work you’re looking for, and find suitable temporary or permanent roles. We only share your CV and details with a nursery after we’ve talked to you about that role.
Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract (finding you work), and our legitimate interests in providing work-finding services.
We do not ask for your date of birth, National Insurance number, nationality, health information or photographs on our website. If we later need information for vetting — such as your DBS certificate, references, right-to-work documents or qualification certificates — we’ll explain how we use it at that point.
If you contact us
Through our contact form we collect your name, email address, phone number (if you give it) and your message. We use it to reply to you. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries.
Who we share your information with
- Nurseries — candidates’ details, only for roles we’ve discussed with you.
- Service providers who help us run our business, under contract and only on our instructions. Our website and its forms are hosted by Netlify; our website statistics are provided by Cloudflare.
- Authorities where the law requires it, for example for safeguarding concerns.
We never sell your information.
International transfers
Some of our service providers may store or process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, as UK data protection law requires.
How long we keep your information
- Enquiries and staff requests that don’t lead to work: up to 12 months.
- Candidate registrations and CVs: up to 2 years after we were last in contact, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Records we must keep by law (for example, about work-finding services and placements): for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct information that’s wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to how we use it
- ask for your information in a format you can take to another organisation

Complaints
