What the job involves
A nursery cook plans and prepares breakfast, lunch, tea and snacks for children from babies upwards. You’ll typically:
- Cook balanced, varied menus suitable for under-fives
- Manage allergies, intolerances and cultural or religious diets safely
- Prepare purées and finger foods for babies starting solids
- Keep the kitchen clean and follow food hygiene rules and records
- Order food and manage stock and budgets
Who it suits
You enjoy cooking from scratch, you’re well organised and you take food safety seriously. You don’t need childcare qualifications, though you’ll need an enhanced DBS like everyone working in a nursery.
Working with us
